I recently shopped the Sephora VIB event, a twice annual event that gives VIB members 15% off their entire purchase in-store or online. If you’re wondering exactly how much more product that gets you, I spent just over $100 on the following products.
While the sale is appreciated, as you can see, even with a 15% discount your dollar doesn’t stretch very far. I purchased one luxury item, two mid-price items, and three minuscule items all for about $104. Here’s a product breakdown of the goods I purchased below:
2 Packs of Sephora Collection Brush It Off Cleansing Brush Wipes (orig. $7) – I purchased these on the recommendation of a friend as a quick way to clean makeup brushes. I’ve resisted keeping brushes in my everyday makeup bag because the idea of them sitting there used and dirty grosses me out. Hopefully traveling with these will give me the freedom to actually keep makeup brushes with me since I can spot clean them. Each pack comes with 18 brush wipes and I paid 5.95 per pack ($11.90 altogether).
Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder (orig. $38) – This powder is the only powder I use to set my face. It perfects, blurs, and smooths your foundation and seals it into place, keeping oils at bay. I’ve literally been using the same jar of powder for 3 years so it was about time I got a replacement, as all I had left was my mini travel sized one. I paid $32.30.
Urban Decay Travel Sized Eyeshadow Primer Potion in Original (orig. $12) – This is another crucial product for me. I can’t do eyeshadow without it, it’s a must-have if I want the color to show through and last. I had one travel sized one I kept transferring from my drawer to my makeup bag, back and forth. This guy will stay with me from now on! I paid $10.20 for it.
Stila Magnificent Metals Glitter & Glow Liquid Eye Shadow in Smoky Storm (orig. $24) – This product in this exact shade (Smoky Storm)has been on my wish list for months now. One swatch on the back of my hand and I was done. It’s a stunning taupe-y/gold and silver glittery eyeshadow mixed into a creamy liquid smooth formula. I balked at the thought of purchasing it at $24 for one eyeshadow, but the sale reduced the price to $20.40.
Stila Magnificent Metals Glitter & Glow Liquid Eye Shadow in Gold Goddess (orig. $24) – Now before you judge me, the Stila glitter shadows were all sold out online, so while I was at a fully stocked store, I decided to throw caution to the winds and pick this one up too. It’s a gold glitter, perfect for neutral smokey eye looks. I might wear this and/or Smoky Storm to my friend’s wedding this weekend. I also purchased this for $20.40.
My total brings me to about $104. I omitted this purchase from the list to keep it from hitting too high above $100, but I did buy one more thing, which was the Boscia Clear Complexion Blotting Linens with Bamboo and Willow Bark Extract too for the discounted price of $8.50. With 100 sheets, I know I’ll get a lot of use out of it, and I’ve been in desperate need for some oil blotting sheets.
So what do you think? As a makeup fiend and a financially-conscious consumer, I pushed myself to shop within reason and still ended up paying more than I wanted. However the sale did knock off about $16.80 (not including the Boscia blotting sheets) I would have had to pay otherwise, so that’s not bad. Plus I got to write a blog post on it.
I’d love to hear your thoughts down below, whether it’s a response to this post or letting me know what you bought at the VIB sale. Thanks for taking the time to read my blog post, and stay tuned for more to come!
